Forty-one years ago the love of my life called me. I was at college and babysitting. He was at basic training in Texas. The call was my proposal. I did not get nor did I want an engagement ring since he was not there to put it on. We celebrated 40 years of marriage last September.
I didn’t get anything. Husband had a stroke and unable to talk and is paralyzed. I am just thankful he is still here with me.
