Frugal & Faithful: What Christmas Means to Me

It all starts with that very first Christmas song that plays. It has officially become Christmas time. Then come the lights, decorations, gatherings, food, family and fun. It’s such a pleasant time of year. Well, minus all of the holiday traffic and crazy shoppers. I might just be one of them, but at least I fit in! My husband thinks I’m crazy, but sometimes I actually like the hussle and the bussle of the crowds. It’s kinda exciting thinking of how everyone is running around trying to find that perfect present for their loved one.

I can’t help but be reminded of the precious gift that the world was given over 2,000 years ago. The world had no idea of the magnitude of this gift. Can you just imagine how Mary felt? Having this very baby that would be her Savior? Talk about pressure! :) What a blessing and what a very obedient woman! I’d say that the birth of Jesus is well worthy of a celebration and that is precisely why we still celebrate this momentous occasion some 2,000 years later!

Even though these days we celebrate by exchanging gifts of electronics, toys, and material gifts, it’s so important that we take the time to really appreciate the original blessing from God- our precious Jesus Christ who saved each and every one of us from our sin. I am so incredibly thankful for that and I’m also very thankful that I get to spend this Christmas time with my family. It’s a time of peace and happiness. We will gather around our tree and exchange presents and eat yummy food and even talk about Santa, but remembering the REAL reason that Christmas even exists is so very important to me. As incredible as all the presents in the world are this Christmas, none are as a precious as Jesus Christ.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
