Kaley over at Cha Ching on a Shoestring contacted me last week and asked for my participation in a new thing called Couponing for Community. She was overwhelmed by the fact that we, as couponers, have the ability as well as resources to impact our communties in a major way.
We know that each of us may give to charities or friends or people in need at one time or another. But what if we made a united effort? Can you just imagine the outcome?
It only took me a second to know that I DEFINITELY wanted to dig into this opportunity and encourage YOU, the readers to join me!
During the week of May 2nd- May 8th I would like you to “Coupon for Community“. The goal is to give a portion of your stockpile (may it be big or small) away to a local food bank, homeless shelter, or even a friend in need. Its a very simple and small way that we can all make a united effort for a big impact!
If you do not have a stockpile, no need to worry. You can still participate. Consider finding items this week that are very cheap and not much out of pocket to purchase even if you normally wouldn’t. They might be just what a homeless shelter or food bank needs.

If you are in the Middle Tennessee area, I have the perfect place and opportunity for you to give. I am planning a donation event for The Journey Home, a mission for homeless in Murfreesboro. They are in great need right now of items such as boxed meals, rice, canned foods, feminine products and more. Any little bit that we can give is much appreciate there. If you would like to join me in giving to The Journey Home, here are the details:
- When: May 8th
- Where: Publix- Lee Victory Pkwy, Smyrna
- Time: 10:00am- Noon
Simply bring your stockpile items to Publix that day and we’ll create the biggest stockpile that we can collect. Let’s show the world that we CAN impact our community and make a difference. And while we’re at it, maybe we can encourage others to donate along with us! I hope that this will be a great opportunity to meet you guys and share in the happiness that coupons can bring

Just because you don’t live close doesn’t mean that I don’t want you to participate! YOU can still make a difference. I encourage you to donate a portion of your stockpile any time between the dates of May 2nd and May 8th. Kaley at Cha Ching on a Shoestring has made a national facebook event page for you to rsvp to as well. We would love for you to drop by and upload a picture of the goods that you donated. This will be a great and fast way for us to see the impact that we can have when working as a community. She’s going to put together a slide show at the end of the week so we can all view each other’s donations. This will also be a great place to make comments, ask questions, get ideas, etc.
I am SO excited about this and I cannot WAIT to see what we as a coupon community can do! I already know that you all are incredible at what you do and together we can be even BETTER!

Can you add more of a description on the Facebook event page that includes how people that are not in Middle Tennessee can still participate in their local area.
