A Magical Experience: Social Media Moms Celebration- Day #1

When I first saw the opportunity for the Social Media Mom’s Celebration, I thought to myself that this opportunity had to be too good to be true. I gave it a thought, then went on about my day. Later on, I started thinking about it again and this time I began to get excited about it because I have never been to Disney World, let alone to a blogger conference at Disney World.

So I decided to talk it over with my husband who willingly said YES! Come to find out, they just sold the last few spots the moment I decided to sign up. I got an email from 5minutesformom saying that if I got an email invitation, then they might have a spot left. A few minutes later- I had an invitation in my inbox! I was so very excited!! I literally screamed! I know, I’m a dork- but I couldn’t help it :)

The amazing women who put this whole experience on along with Disney were Resourceful Mommy Media, Mom Bloggers Club, and Mom Select.  These ladies did a FABULOUS job and their hard work was apparent from the moment I stepped into the Disney World Resort.I’ll warn you, this might be a little lengthy- its only because I want to make sure to share with you my whole experience- it was MAGICAL!

Day #1

We drove about 10.5 hours from Nashville to get there before 4:30 when the buses were to arrive to wisk us away to ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. I was in heaven as soon as I saw Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Its a wonderful hotel surrounded by all the comforts of a Hawaiian resort, complete with lays when you walk in the door. Each building has its own special Polynesian name, and I apologize but I could never even say the name of our building let alone remember it. I kinda mapped out our building the first day in steps and thats the only way I knew to get back. Kinda like Hansel and Gretel, ha!

We got on the buses that carried us over to the newly rebranded ESPN’s Wide World of Sports where we proceeded to play some ball and just act silly on the field. While my family kept playing, I sat in on an “official press conference” for Disney World, where some new plans were announced. Here’s a wrap up of the info released:

  • New- Summer Nightastic! Includes the Main Street Electrical Parade, Tower of Terror new drop sequence just for Summer Nightastic!
  • The Main Street Electrical Parade Lights is back! After-dark entertainment for the whole family.
  • Fantasyland Expansion beginning in 2010 will last 3 years. Step into your favorite fairytale!
  • A Magical Makeover for Castaway Cay (Disney’s private island in the Bahamas) Scheduled to complete by summer 2010.
  • 2 New Disney Cruise Ships- Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. The Dream will have a on-board transparent water slide called the Aqua-Duct! Watched a simulation and I can tell you it was fun!
  • And of course the Relaunch of ESPN’s Wide World of Sports!

I couldn’t help but feel extra special sitting in on all this amazing information being released!

Soon after the press release, we then went to have dinner in one of the sports complexes there. There was food, family, and fun for everyone. I met two wonderful bloggers which I learned were also some amazing mothers as well! Mikki from The Not So Perfect Housewife and Kristie from This Side of Eternity. You’ll want to check out both of their blogs!

The whole night was so fabulous. Mickey and his friends made an appearance, which my daughter was very excited about! They had a dance party with all the kids and it was a blast! Can you imagine? This is JUST day #1!

More to come….stay tuned…
