Target Run- Grocery Challenge

I ran to Target tonight to take advantage of the Glade Candle deal going right now. It didn’t turn out well, I can tell you that. But in the end, I got what I went in for so I cannot complain too much.

Here’s what I got:

5 Glade Scented Candle Tins $2.50- Used $1.50/1- Made them $1
1 Glade Scented Candle Tin $2.50- Used a 2/1- Made it .50
6 Glade Scented Refills $2.50- Used the FREE wyb Candle Holder blinkie- Made them FREE
3 Glade Scented Candle Refills $2.50- Used FREE wyb 2 refills- Made them FREE
1 8 pk Bounty Basic Paper Towels $5.99- No coupons- Made it 5.99
1 Up & Up 88ct Wipes $1.97- Used the 1/1 target q- Made it .97

Receive 3 $5 Target Gift Cards!

Total Savings: $37.41 Total OOP: $19.54

If you’re planning on doing the Glade candle deal (view it here), here are some obstacles that I ran into tonight:

1) The regular (not seasonal) Glade Candle Tins did NOT ring up as on sale for $2.50, they rang up $2.99. Even though their ad clearly states Scented Oil Candle Tins as included in the $2.50 deal. I stood my ground on this one though.

2) The Scented Candle Refills rang up on sale, but did not prompt the cashier for a gift card and neither did the Candle Tins (clearly because they were not considered on sale at my store). However, there WAS a sign in front of the refills on the shelf that stated if you buy 5 you get a $5 gift card.

3) If you’re planning on using all the coupons that make the refills free, I would make sure and hand them the items one at a time and then the corresponding coupons as to not confuse your cashier. Otherwise, some cashiers think that us couponers might be “pulling one over on them”.

I have to say I had some major opposition to my deal tonight, but in the end I got my candles, refills, and my gift cards like I was supposed to. Just wanted to let you know what you might be up against if you attempt this deal!
